RADE BOARD

RADE has a voluntary Board of Directors who ensure that the project remains innovative and addresses the needs of our participants. The RADE Board are a strong cross section of experience and talent that provides a sound foundation upon which RADE operates.

RADE STAFF

Project Director / Drama Co-ordinator / Tutor

Michael Egan / michael@rade.ie

Michael Egan, who initiated the RADE programme, has been working in community and professional theatre as both a playwright and actor since the 70s. He has also worked on film acting/writing/ directing. He established the first FÁS scheme in the Merchants Quay Project and worked there from ’92 to ’96. During this period he wrote, directed and produced a number of short drama pieces which were performed by clients of the Merchants Quay Project. This culminated in the production of his play Laughers and Screamers, performed during the Dublin Theatre Festival ’96. Michael produced Theatre in Education work in Down to Earth Theatre Company, where he also developed the pilot Theatre/Arts/Drugs group that became the RADE project.

Eoghan Ó Néill / eoghan.oneill@rade.ie

Eoghan Ó Néill is a wood sculptor, whose work may be found in many countries, including, Britain, the USA, Australia and of course Ireland. His work has been commissioned by multinational companies, and local business as well as private citizens. Eoghan is the founder and current chairperson of Cruthú, a network of artists in Co. Wicklow. Eoghan has been working with in RADE since 2006. He strongly believes that tapping into ones own creativity can help a person to not only express themselves but can motivate them in pursuit of their goals. RADE, Eoghan believes, is the first step for people who not only have to overcome their own dependences, but must also overcome the prejudice and their marginalisation by society. The creative pursuit of RADE strengthens the confidence and spirit of the individual, and introduces them to capacities they did not know they have.

Programme Co-ordinator / Drama Tutor

Sine Lynch joined the RADE team in November 2006. She graduated from University of Limerick with a Bachelor of Business Studies degree. In 2009, Sine completed her Business Management Certificate in UL.   She began her career in business development in the commercial sector before moving into the community sector.  She is responsible for the day to day running of the organisation, programme development and project management of artistic events.  She is also a qualified drama teacher and conducts drama workshops to prepare participants for theatre and film performances.  

Rehab & Training Co-ordinator

Averyl Swords / averyl@rade.ie

Averyl Swords joined the RADE team in December 2006. Averyl has achieved a Masters Of Social Science from UCD. She has also achieved a Cert in Drug Counselling and Intervention Skills along with a H.Dip in Health Services Management. Averyl has acquired a number of years experience working in community based projects. Averyl is currently facilitating a weekly relapse prevention programme for participants looking at encouraging participants to change their drug using behaviour through the use of CBT techniques. Most recently Averyl completed further training in Case Management and a Certificate in Adult Guidance Counselling from NUI Maynooth. Work is ongoing in the identification and development of training plans and care plans for all participants on a one to one key-working basis. Currently Averyl manages a case-load of 21 participants and is responsible for assessing all incoming and prospective participants to the programme. Averyl also oversees the recruitment, supervision and management of all RADE volunteers.

Patricia joined RADE in February 2011.  Patricia worked for the past 15 years in various projects in Dublin including Merchants Quay Ireland, Chrysalis, ARC Crumlin and DROP in Dun Laoghaire. Her roles included key working, case management, harm reduction and health promotion.  She achieved a Hons BA in Sociology in 2002 and a Msc in Applied Social Research from Trinity College in 2004.  Patricia's current role in RADE involves one to one keyworking and case management.
