Written and Directed by Pom Boyd who worked in collaboration with the RADE participants to devise this piece….… “TODAY” tells the story of Patrick who is sent by his eccentric doctor to find an arts project in Dublin’s inner city. An engaging, funny and moving short film that introduces both Patrick and the audience to the colourful characters that have found a home in the “Art Row Workshop”. But Patrick arrives on the day the programmes funders are visiting….
Emma Ryan aka Puppy Love who has performed in previous RADE Theatre productions speaks of the transition from stage to camera “at first the camera’s make you nervous and shy but after a few takes you just forget and get on with doing the scene.”
This is RADE’s début film and it continues to uphold the high standards achieved with their original theatre productions and art exhibitions over the past four years. RADE is testament to the capacity of people affected by drug dependence to contribute to society and the work firmly dispels the negative labels and stereo-type notions of uselessness associated with this group.
Pom Boyd has directed a very polished and professional production with stellar and hilarious performances from all the cast. The film was shot by the experienced camera man/ film maker Jason Figgis and edited by equally experienced Declan Lynch.
